Liz has been involved in the Parks and Recreation industry since 1988, after completing the Diploma of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management at Lincoln University from 1986-1988. Liz has held a number of roles in the local government, including Recreation and Promotions Manager, Contract Manager, Facilities and Marketing Manager for Hastings District Council, Facilities Officer for Tauranga City Council and as a specialist parks and recreation consultant.

This was a short-term contract, managing facility contracts for Tauranga District Council (now Tauranga City).
Hastings District Council 1992–1995
Promotions and Recreation Manager. This role managed outdoor and indoor recreation facilities, the Hastings Municipal Theatre as well as managing and promoting these facilities.
Wellington City Council 1992
Bookings Officer and special projects role.
Upper Hutt City Council 1989-1991
Recreation Officer. This role included the management of Upper Hutt’s community funding, running special events, liaising with the community in regards to community recreation projects and working with elected members.
Wellington Regional Council 1988/89
Summer work after completing university. Role was to set up, promote and run the Belmont Regional Park open day. This was then a new regional park that had just been developed.
